The Beauty of the Moon

The quotidian nature of the moon Yet defined by sublimity Contrasting with the sun But not compared to it Standalone, in this World at least Beautiful by the distance And the cast of light I question how I judge harshly So many things But principles fall away When the truth Needs no explanation

Thank you Ryan, I think it's one of those poems that could only be written after midnight when you're the only one awake. Every time I reread it I ponder it more but don't think I want to change it from being straightforward but abstract. Thank you for your kind words

Profound statement and true, we think most things require our judgement. We judge the rain and the snow and the sunshine and yet we don't try to judge the beauty of the moon, we just accept that it is so. I person can write poems, but its a poet that creates poetry. Fine poetry DD.

Thanks Wen, I had that quotidian word written down for a while and wanted to do something with it. It took waking up in the night to figure it out!
