Inspired by Paramore's That's What You Get. It was almost a pantoum but haven't done the fixes to syllables and made a few errors, so it's rhyme with a few refrains. For the Emo Song Contest. I was never an emo but I have seen Paramore live.
"I drowned out all my sense with the sound of it beating" Paramore On the dangerous train of letting my heart lead To experience love and belonging, however fleeting I know the end of the line is the place I'm left to bleed Drowned out all my sense with the sound of it beating To experience love and belonging, however fleeting In all my forevers you're the thrill and ---- I need Drown out all my sense with the sound of my heart beating I know the end of the line is the place I'm left to bleed In all my forevers you're the thrill and ---- I need So my heart holds out for one more round repeating I know the end of the line is the place I'm left to bleed And this totality of immersion is ultimately self defeating So my heart holds out for one more round repeating Cannot stop now, it's my caged spirit that you feed And this totality of immersion is ultimately self defeating When the end of the line is the place I'm left to bleed

This poem clings. Talented lines saturate one with emotional, raw and tender feel ... CayCay

Thanks Anaya, yeah I was only half in the mood to write using a form and unfortunately when I saw how far off my line lengths were it might have crashed and burned. I decided a good singer could probably work around my flawed song writing, plus I liked it. I'm so out of practice using forms, I'll have to reacquaint myself. Thanks for your comment, glad you liked it.

Dear DD, you can own any form and give your readers something that they could praise, all day! Ah i remember listening to paramore but was never too crazy about them, however i think its so cool that youv seen them live! Im not a huge fan of pantoums or forms that have refrains but you did it so well and your lines flow so well! I almost forgot that its a pantoum! I really love the line "In all my forevers you're the thrill and ---- I need" whoa thats such a romantic line! I also love the last lines! So moving and soulful! Best wishes for the contest .. i need to do this contest! Was excited seein it haha . Good to see soupers writing for that cool contest. Pleasure readn..Sending you light always.. ps was this a pantoum? Cus i see it labeled as rhyme. Apologies for the confusion

It was almost a pantoum, I wrote with the intent of doing a minor rejig, then when I checked my syllables they were all over the place and I also liked it the way it was :) little secret - I saw them live when they supported Taylor Swift but I went back inside the box and got something to eat instead of watching their full set. Benson Boone was also the support and he was brilliant :) thanks for the praise :)

In a pantoum you dont have to have a syllable count.. I've done so many of these and used to do them using song lyrics from particular artists.. Also they dont have to rhyme.. I like the refrain and the rhymes.. it flows really well.. I get that emo feel from your words... Hope you dont bleed too much, unless it is poetry... Hope you are well.. Peace and blessings..

I didn't even need a plaster Silent One haha went straight out for a run then rewarded myself by getting my favourite things from the deli :) I thought my syllables might need a slight rejig but they are a bit wild, I enjoyed the nod to the form though. I used to enjoy pantoums and villanelles - I might well revisit. Thank you for your kind supportive comment, appreciated

Our hearts can be so traitorous by continuing to want what it desires. Never mind listening to any inkling of reason. It's never heard... not one single word. How do we stay on the train when we know each mile brings us closer to the end of the line where we're left bleeding? In all seriousness, Dilly your rhyming lines are lyrics of a dead-end love song, heart wrenchingly written in your unique style.

Thank Lin :) I'm not sure I have the discipline for writing song lyrics, although when I read a few in prep for this it seems a good singer doesn't need it laid out neat. Thank you for the very fine compliment :)
