Slumber
This overwhelming sense I fear is death,
Macerates any attempt of release,
Your weight upon my chest holds still my breath,
A lamb in languor, I plead for some peace.
Who are you demon, refusing a name,
Is your cold apparition here to stay?
Repent, I repent! you must know my shame,
Is it too late to send your soul away?
From within the moonless scape of my mind,
A droplet of light displaces your spell,
Limbs liberated, no longer confined,
Once again, morning’s alarm strikes her bell.
Shackles undressed, I am gratefully free,
But night lays in wait to recapture me.
