Sharing poetry be like

I can't write down my fantasy football team Or perhaps I could Somehow dividing my traits into useful players My over confident exuberance - striker Neurotic overthinker - goalie Quick thinking analytic condemnor - attack/defence Overcompensating fixer - whatever periphery players are But poetry to the none interested is this Having unsharable ideas that could be great, might be But you have to find someone who cares They not only have to like poetry but like you So even if my best friend has an amazing fictional line up With the best will in the world I have nothing to engage But there is an audience, an enthused one Same as someone apologetic talks in that football space, shares a great team - nothing, they've not sold it I'm not selling it, I'm pulling punches, I'm not building any likeability Just showing how my brain works I can't take it on the road nor leave it here But I can't keep it in I've whipped up my team to get out on the field They are created rather than fictional Would I have a better team if some of them were switched out? "Bring on fine and dandy, stay on the bench self loathing" "Red card inner critic" Am I better playing with less? I definitely have tactics - confidence up front when on the field Keep neurotic overthinker marked I need a better manager, my coach isn't invested I could definitely take home titles If I straighten up my team, give them direction But I get embroiled in the side squabbles See how the poem is chaotic? There's good stuff to say, but it's scattered Plus too long winded for anyone to attempt You'd have to like me to get this far Or have skipped to the end, tell me the bit about skipping is good I could rework this - it has good bones But it needs to leave my possession Without me saying a word I don't want to risk being boring Or maybe it's just another void to whisper into

You have a mind that gets inside of a poem and then speaks out of it...becoming a dialogue in real time...so intriguing and engaging for the reader. It's like being inside your head whilst thoughts rise up and grapple for form. Original and arresting poetry dear DD...

Such a flattering way to describe my poetry Paul - definitely a review I'd put on the back of my book :)

An interesting poem. There's plenty of ego in sports as you accurately describe. I liked following this story with a poem.

Thanks Hilda, it's an interesting idea to play around with - both the control and direction we can give our own traits by will alone and also how art (including poetry) isn't appreciated by everyone even something considered brilliant and publishable is still dull to a non interested party. Which is why I don't walk around singing poetry like a minstrel :)

Ah I did make it to the end of your fantasy football team Dilly, it’s a wonderful creative and innovative poem, but I can see where you messed up, you totally forgot, and most people do, to always keep their strongest players or traits on the wings, no doubt you’re flying high today with POTD, cheers David

Who'd have thought I'd be the football star and you the cheer leader?! Haha precisely no one. You'd make a great coach shouting encouragement though :) I certainly have enjoyed my POTD - it's been all sunshine and Friday vibes too. Thank you for that initial bit of spotlight you threw my way with the fave that got me noticed :)
