Scarecrows Dreams
Enchanting floppy scarecrow
Standing in a field
Looking out for sweet corn
Caring for the yield
Cable knitted sweater
Yellow woollen hat
Green and purple trousers
Nibbled by a rat
Arms outstretched and watching
Birds frightened of his presence
Winds blowing all the stuffing
With mould and dusty essence
The night falls Upon the birds
Who sleep tight now under wing
And as the evening closes
Our scarecrow starts to sing
He sings of stars so bright In the sky
He sings of the rainbows whilst wondering why
Why he just stands there Day after day
Whilst laughing fun people get to play
His singing is soothsome
It gives him much hope
That one day he can dance
And not be tied to a post
