For Edwards This or That contest: Runner
I forget why, but I looped the loop, dropped headfirst into daydreams, felt post-dizziness summation of self, recombobulated in the inch above the ashes. I'm the greater half of the tribulation, the in-breath of the ether, burnt up in the atmosphere ~ but still, emotion at full pelt, the run of the wild animal contained in the chest, understood by the few, emptied out for existence, contained for the cure, curtailed for the penance, intoxicated for the relief ~ yet felt, in every fibre. Should you let me in, gather me in moonlight, eradicate my false beliefs. chase me down, let the earth dirty my knees as I pray to wake cleansed, hand in hand with my awakener.

Thank you Andrea, I wrote it very much in one breath and I loved that line. It felt very empowering to write :)

I had this thought of you running a marathon. I see it's a marathon of thoughts, which is quite similar, for running does cleanse the body. Don't be awakening too soon with your maker, there's more to come from you.

I've still not clocked up a 5k yet. Maybe I'll continue to write beyond transcendence :)

Again, I find your poetry to be mesmerizing. I like the exuberance of life in the first stanza.

Dear DD, This is beyond powerful and so well written too, i love the ending the most in this and also how youv written "I'm the greater half of the tribulation, the in-breath of the ether, burnt up in the atmosphere" those lines really stood out for me for the depth and the creative way youv phrased thoughts too! And the last stanza with " should you let me in " is so evocative and heartfelt! Felt this poem so deeply! The metaphors and your diction and how youv delivered this makes this worthy of all accolades! Best wishes!!! Sending you light always

An absolutely lovely autodidactic absolution Poetess...your Awakener would be eager to embrace the honest spirit of your open hand, and open heart. "felt post dizziness of summation of self, recombobulated in the inch above the ashes...emotion at full pelt." Hardcore skill here Poetess, and a FAV!!

What praise! Thank you Justin :) late night writes often draw out the more unusual and had lots of fun with my fast paced word choices. Thank you for your comment and the fave :)

Definitely need to take a few deep breaths after this one Dilly, it’s a super feeling when out on one’s feet, and the adrenaline/endorphin rush starts to kick in, but then I also sense duality, a spiritual longing or awakening through the high, and all the effort it takes to reach such a transcendent state, superbly expressed and written as always, cheers David

The exuberance you portray with the run of a wild animal contained inside you ! Emptied, curtailed, intoxicated yet felt in every fibre. Wow D, I haven't run a step, but your poem has me exhausted. Finished in such a calming way. A splendid poem with every essence of emotion that I am sure every runner experiences.

Thank you Wen, it's beautiful seeing you back on the site :) this poem just flew into existence the way I used to be able to just write at the drop of a hat. Had an early flight to catch, so wrote this then went to sleep :)
