Fifty years, time difficult to embrace, a reunion of high school classmates in offer. Remembered faces blooming in the beauty of youth, minds filled with hope and events of great need. Timid boys filled with uncertainty, perchance to glean the smile of a young heart throb. Clutches of girls stroll hallways in giggling chorus, each sharing tales of perceived romance and dream. Proud young athletes displaying skill and ability, pep rally's, bonfires, in school loyalty unbounded. Bonds of team mates are burned to heart, vows of eternal friendship drift in school halls. Books, studies, tests to develop the seeking mind, some are industry bound others of college intent. Fifty years, time difficult to embrace, senior year, one last gasp, a final year of childish ways. In grand splendor, graduation, the pinnacle event, cap and gown, awards of recognition, and heartfelt goodbyes. As the planting of seed to field, new directions, employment, families to build. Some seed will root in place, others blown to wind, higher education, employment opportunities, service in time of war. Young saplings will flourish to fruit and drop seed, developing deep roots, new growth in family and friends. Life however offers no promise of sun filled days, some are lost to natures plan, accident, and nations call. Promises fade and drift with the passage of time and distance, memories mute to the bright colors of each new day. Fifty years, time difficult to embrace, a gathering of friendly old faces in common search. The timeless smile decades could not erase, spirited laughter still echoing in the halls of mind. Eyes that sparkle at the memories of times shared, tales long forgotten, perhaps best left unattended. Adventures shared in life story much unsuspected, personal tragedies spoken in soft tones. Kind remembrance to those lost in times passage, honor and respect for those lost in countries service. Quiet still moments, thoughts of events, places long gone, dreams fulfilled and dreams set aside. A crowd of aged friends in shared experience, a cherished moment in the golden memory of life.
