Racial Discrimination
Skin, a map of histories untold,
a spectrum painted, in stories old.
But eyes, they narrow, judge, and then they claim,
a difference forged, in prejudice's flame.
Words, like stones, they bruise and then they break,
a whispered slur, a promise they forsake.
Homes, once sanctuaries, turn to battlegrounds,
where fear takes root, and silence harshly sounds.
Dreams, once vibrant, fade to shades of gray,
as hope's bright embers, slowly slip away.
A weight of burdens, carried through the years,
a legacy of sorrow, and unshed, silent tears.
The scales of justice, tipped and out of sight,
where equal footing falters, in the fading light.
A plea for voices, rising from the deep,
to break the chains of slumber, secrets they keep.
To see the heart, that beats beneath the skin,
where common threads of humanity begin.
To build a bridge, across the chasm wide,
where empathy and understanding reside.
To rewrite stories, etched in lines of pain,
and plant the seeds of healing, in the falling rain.
