Overcoming Desperation

Desperation, draw me not like magnets pull But once again let saneness possess me in full Do not ravage me like a lion upon its prey Block not the seeds of thoughts that come to save the day Like limbs of a tree in the presence of a gale force wind The heavy weight of thy encumbrance makes me bend As a cookie being crushed underneath a fisted hand Sapping my power, I become a broken man Hope beyond my greatest self, suddenly appears Dashing all desperate thoughts, releasing all my fears Focused like a camera’s lens, my eyes see a way Attitude and mindful thought, must have their say Ideals forming one by one, possibilities Desperation lost; I’ve overcome my disease

Oh, this is such a profound and thought provoking sonnet that dwells in deeply evocative words of wisdom. Desperation definitely comes with an overburdening sense of vulnerability, which makes our souls weary and thus, those ending lines of the sonnet work like the best relief and solution.. I absolutely love the way you've said that we must learn to align with our thoughts, attitude and energies which is required in the art to actually understand life.. Very well done, so brilliant!!

An important message in your sonnet my friend.. one that flows and rhymes very well.. They say life is a balance of holding on and letting go... we all face some adversity in our lives, but most of the time almost everything is temporary and we need to control our mind and thoughts to overcome so much... when we finally overcome it we feel so much more stronger... great sonnet.

Whatever may come our way, attitude and mindfulness plays a major role and helps us with facing any challenges. I love the fact that to write about something as important and to deliver your thoughts, you’ve actually written a sonnet. How clever and creative of you. I especially love the line “ block not the seeds of thought” that line should be a quote on your bio. So good! Powerful write. Loved reading this, you never fail to amaze us readers, with deep and profound writes.

Enjoyed the pressure and suspense of your poem, and of course the answer to the trouble. At 14 lines, a full story reveals itself.
