I'm Glad I Know Nothing

I’m glad I know nothing I’m happy to live in the dark Don’t need no TV Don’t need no lit-up spark There’s the face of a stranger I see every night in my dreams Speaking different language I can’t understand what he means I think what he’s saying Is I’m stupid and arrogant For all of those moments When I believed in what I said We piss in the wind We make echoes in our cave We pretend to court logic So that the ego is saved Who is the winner? Only history will tell To them go the spoils While the losers will burn in Hell I’m so glad l know nothing That way, I can never be wrong I'll just sit here and fiddle While the kingdom burns down to my song And the panels of experts And the priests and the scientists And the voices of action Go hoarse as the virus persists They seek refuge in knowledge But really, it’s just the prize To be placed on the mantle Or worn like a sheep-disguise But I don’t mind grazing Here on this mighty hill I look down on the virtuous Their smug smiles wanting to kill Yet claiming they’re righteous With their college-educated claims I’m a real bad player I never minded skipping their games ‘Cause the object is futile And marked by arbitrary rules That keep changing and changing In an atmosphere that’s almost cruel So my back’s to the wind now I can piss wherever I choose In the meadow of suffering Or in the alley of the bruised It’s all the same here Distinctions are obsolete The game only courts losers -- So forgive me if I don’t compete The game only courts losers -- So forgive me if I don’t compete
