GHOSTS WE NO LONGER HAUNT

Once in a dream
I attended a funeral service
at this particular church
of an unnamed family member
just before the bell rang
for the service to begin
I had witnessed some apparitions
who mysteriously appeared
silently out of the clear blue

One was of my maternal great grandfather
who passed on two years ago
while the others were of my paternal grandfather
who passed on six years ago
along with several elders of the church
who also passed onto glory
several years into the past

All of them each
appeared separately
at the front of the altar
of the church
kneeling
and
bowing their heads down
with their eyes closed
silently fasting and
whispering prayers towards heaven

When I spotted them
kneeling and praying at the altar
I tried getting their attention
by getting them in my usual manner
but they were all unable to hear me
and afterwards they all just vanished
from out of the church building
the same way they mysteriously appeared

                                                                              Written by: Mia Pratt, 2017

(4th line from bottom - the "was" should be something else.)
