Entreaty to Your Absence

I am writing to tell you, Dear Father
how much I miss you, in your undue absence
Mother will not reveal the reason
for your leaving - she wears a sad expression
and weaves a dismal tapestry-
a navy waterscape lit by a pale glow
from a ghostly planet
Being barely fifteen I base my understanding
on limited experience, yet know
her heart grows now more desolate
with each stitch of gloomy emptiness
In dawn's illumination yesterday
I watched her gather flowers
Pale, fragile morning glory
She never knew I saw her shed, those
sweet tears that mingled with the dew.

Heartfelt, and tells us of your mother's sacrifice, and carefulness to not burden her children with her burden. Lovely!
