Say it your way, but be positive with whatever you have to say.

Monoku quote by Bill Baker

Using the same words make comments seem cold, We must speak from our hearts and not withhold. Positive comments don’t ever get old. Avoid the negative and never scold. Offer to help them with words which can mend. Let uplifting comments spread like the wind. Write from your instinct, tell them like a friend. Pass kind words forward so they never end. We’ve been advised to do this from the start. We should be courageous; each do our part. The words will vary, if said from our heart, The comments will encourage a la carte.

This is a fine example poem of kindness and civility, Bill. I've been "attacked" a few times on the Soup. But, I soldier on, and with two poets, I reconciled. Sometimes one can mend it, sometimes it's best not to respond at all. Thank you for this thoughtful poem of peace. The sweet Lord's blessings to you. ~

I had my attackers too, Regina. Just have to let them blow through. They don't usually last in a friendly environment. Let Team Poetry Soup know if it gets too out of hand they will step in and help resolve the situation. Always good to see you've visited my friend. Have a pleasant week! Bill

Lovely reminder of kindness and manners dear Bill. Etiquette in person, in words, and in deeds. :)

"Offer to help them with words which can mend. Let uplifting comments spread like the wind. Write from your instinct, tell them like a friend. Pass kind words forward so they never end." Hi Bill, you not only give advice but put them into practice. Whenever I read your comments, they spark a fresh inspiration in me. Your words are always sincere and so comforting! You are a sweet presence here. Beautiful sonnet as ever!

Nice one Bill. I do not know enough about poetry to criticize anyone's work. On the other hand, my comments do tend to be generic and boring because of it. Have a great day, my friend.

Yes you are right, and if you have nothing positive to say then be silent.. be the silent one... we should encourage others and support them.. most poets on here post for the love of it.. not to get criticism or feedback from so call pros.... nice rhymes dear Bill..

Dear bill, you and sara are always very encouraging while passing on comments, i have been through similar situations, where iv received some sarcastic comments and some calling my poems peculiar, not here specifically on other poetry platforms, and i just tell them nicely, to find something good in a poem if one wants to comment otherwise find another poem worthy of their time and energy. as we all writ from our heart and i dont think we want to hear brutal criticism, Mindful comments always:

I agree, Inky, we're just pouring our hearts out and leaving ourselves vulnerable when we share our deepest feeling though our poetry. There's always something about a poem that deserve a positive comment. Love and Light my friend. Bill

Good lesion for me. I am not a good and qualified person to make comments, I like all poems,

That's me, Jay. I seldom ever read a poem that I don't like. Thanks for reading mine, my friend. Bill

Bill, you have the correct perspective when it comes to positivity in making comments. Some who use a rubber stamp method have no value, but those, who like you, respond with understanding to a poet's creation are sincere.

If one can't offer positive comments and support then they should move on. In my time on here I've seen some leave downright nasty comments, of course they wouldn't say it to your face but hide behind a screen. My advice, don't respond because they quickly remove their comments and complain to admin, I've seen it happen. Best thing to do is screenshot them and send to admin.. Tom

As they say here on PS, encouragement not criticism. There is nothing more disappointing than thinking you've given it your best on a poem only to find a critical comment on there. As you say which I strongly agree with...Offer to help them with words which can mend. Let uplifting comments spread like the wind. Write from your instinct, tell them like a friend. Pass kind words forward so they never end. A fave with me Bill. This message needs sharing...Hugs

You nailed it, hubby! When commenting, best to speak positively from the heart with kindness like one would with a friend. If we each do our part, the beautiful PS community thrives. Great rhyme scheme too....your eastside writing bear!
