Caragana Roar

this is the month that cannot breathe… in the spine of night a blue cold wind caragana roar the heart unloosed and full of hell swallows the silence and all that is the fierce orbit of winter sky held together by pieces of moon the scarcity of emptiness distending through the darkest eye like a bell’s stroke long since tolled this is the month that cannot breathe… I hear the shadows the gaunt click of bones nourishing nightmare of hacked prose the pen bleeds and staggers into convulsions of mimicry ‘til joyfully seized by a wayward thought into the clasp of hungry stars caught in me upon a sea of scars

Mat, what an amazing poem. The way you weave words into a sense of haunted foreboding is truly wonderful! There are so many unique and fresh expressions of imagery for winter on many levels - "gaunt click of bones," "clasp of hungry stars," "sea of scars." This poem is wonderfully crafted. I enjoyed your creative prowess! Sending you blessings.

Whoa… Mat… this is utterly captivating—your style is impressive. The refrain… the macabre imagery…I sense resilience in the hell of winter. This was brilliant.
