"Do you like U2?" she asked. It was an unusually awesome sunrise in Belleville Park. I come here to eat my breakfast on nice days and to take in the scenery before heading to the office. Paris has been good to me. I grew up in Houston, Texas and then went on to university at UCLA to become a climatologist. How I ended up here is a long story but suffice it to say my Parisian mother had something to do with it. I truly enjoyed my uncluttered, single lifestyle. So anyway, there I was munching on a breakfast burrito when this twenty-something blonde with cat-green eyes plops down beside me and asks the above question, quite out of the blue I might add. "Uh, well I grew up binging on The Joshua Tree, so yeah," I replied. Now here's the really weird part. Nothing. Not another word. But those emerald eyes shot straight through me like lightning on metal. As you may have guessed, my life changed on that day. Ever since, my world has been (ahem) pleasantly cluttered. Looking back on it, I've come to realize that July 4th, 2010 was indeed a "Beautiful Day." I found my true One under a Parisian sky Mysterious Ways

Great choice!"Stars of David they took your life but could not take your pride" then he gets into the song "In The Name Of Love" here in Las Vegas (in reference to the Gaza -Hamas attacks)"Always been for nonviolence a song about nonviolence seems somewhat ridiculous, even laughable,” said U2 frontman Bono to a silent crowd “But our prayers have always been for peace and for nonviolence.” Very interesting love "those emerald eyes shot straight through me like lightning on metal" Love Bono too.

I have my nephew and family and my first cousin living in Housten. I have visited them twice both when the weather was pleasant, around October- November and loved that place. Your Haibun, I always love which offers someting so sensational and nice. Enjoyed your dramatic meeting with your love, dear Tom.

Great story, Tom. It just so happens that on July 4th is when I met my love as well. The only difference is, is that I met my love at the county fair in my hometown. Fireworks were flying for the both of us! BTW.. I am also a fan of U2 :)

A lovely haibun, Tom. Quite an experience you had on that beautiful day. I graduated from Houston Westbury High School in Houston, 1963, and was stationed there while in the Air Force from 1970-1973 at Ellington AFB. I only attended Westbury my senior year. Simple and bountiful Life can be when it grants a sweet moment in time that can shape a destiny ! Beautiful haiku, about finding true love. I love some songs by U2! Especially “with or without you” and your way with writing haibuns are always so good! They flow seamlessly! And in such a captivating manner! Very descriptive and entertaining! Brilliant storyteller you are! I am truly impressed, cus i dont think i can do haibun like this, i still would like to… good to see you posting.
