A Rain's Refrain

How charmed, that pitter-patter on the glass - The trickled weep upon each windowpane, An April code from heaven, sent en masse, To tell me hope is blooming 'midst the rain, (A tap-tap-tap of spring-tide's soft refrain) ... This rain is sent like nectar from the gods, To give each chance at life the fairest odds, Or hear a strain the rain has gently wrung From tender clouds, now all of life applauds ...
