Zack Wavery Rides Again page 6

The Story Begins My horse strolled into town Not impressed by what he saw I'm never really sure What's sticking in his craw I've never seen him pass up A fresh cool trough of water Especially on a day Where it just can't get much hotter So, be it as it may I'm not caring what he thinks I'm gettin' off his back And I'm findin' me a drink I tied him to a post As I peered at the saloon Another "Silver Dollar" And opened up by noon As I pushed back both the doors I let them go and let them swing I saw a sexy lady on the stage Prepared to sing She looked in my direction And said "What will it be" I said "I want a whiskey" She asked "Buy one for me" So I planked myself in a chair At a table near the bar As she slithered ever closer She said "I'm called Beth Starr" The owner brought two glasses And a bottle filled with booze But it was clear what she was after And I had nothin' left to lose As she sat, pulled her chair A little closer to my side And I felt a funny feeling That we both were being eyed Every time Beth grab my arm Pulled me close and tried to squeeze me I saw the Gambler across the room Growing more and more uneasy It finally got exciting When Beth leaned in and kissed me The Gambler drew his gun Fired once, but barely missed me I would have fired back But he'd put his gun away Beth then cussed him out While she begged for me to stay To be continued..........
