We won't be singing love songs anymore
What ever happened to the love we knew Love that once belonged to me and to you On carpets of roses we both did lay With life akin to a long holiday. Blissful were the days and tender the nights When we'd soar to wonderful heady heights Held safe in your loving arms the hours flew Why oh why sweetheart did you say we’re through. You'd write poetry for my eyes only As joyful as a lark, I’d surely be Now you are gone, disappeared without trace In midst of silence my lonesome heart aches. I have adored you from when we started How I wish that we had never parted Mister magnifico you were to me My handsome Prince Charming, my honey bee. There will always be a key left in store For the one whom my lone soul so yearns for Missing everything, my heart’s truly sore We won't be singing love songs anymore.

The fire of love is well said, as one can keep stoking the ashes after the flame has gone......Aloha! Rico

Thank you Rico, when love becomes a dying ember it might as well rain until September, even though it’s nice to remember... Belle

You discribed the heartbreak of love no more, the fire that once was no longer burning. Good luck in the contest Belle, I hope you have a lovely weekend. Hope our good weather returns. Tom

Thank you Tom, you have reminded me of a quote I once wrote “Forget him if he doesn’t love you, forget him if he doesn’t care, but never forget the spark that he left, in your heart it will always be there.” Hoping the weather comes good for the weekend. Belle

You described the heartbreak brilliantly, Belle. I liked the flow of your poem--and the ending line spells the essence.

Thank you Victor, fortunately though it’s not happened to me, I can imagine how painful it’d be... Belle

Very well written, Belle. Like Tennyson said, "It is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all" Good luck!

I do agree with that Daniel, to never have known what it is to be loved is unjust, to have loved and lost is worth all the pain of the game. Thank you, Belle
