I cried ouch from that old familiar pang
Swimming in the tepid river of brine
My prowess has diminished over time
Now rising is the river with the rain
Throw me a lifeline, I'm drowning in pain
I completely ignored the warning sign
My own handwriting posted on the pine
But my heart jumped in right over the chain
It wasn't long we were over our head
The current seemed to pull us farther out
We reached for memories to float upon
But the good memories had passed ahead
It won't do any good to scream or shout
The river of brine has already won

You're not to fear, Danny. Floating is easier in salt water. Just relax and let the bad memories float away.

Agreed! Like I said once before, If the writer is pleased enough to put it out there, it's good enough for me. I do not have to understand the meaning just enjoy it for what it is!

You're right. It's just a poem, and those we write have more meaning to us than to anyone else. Some pretend they understand, but do they really? Does it really matter if anyone else does or not? No.
