Take It From Me

You are young, you are strong, You are happy and carefree, You cannot imagine what could go wrong, Why in the world should you listen to me, Some silly old dame, As dumb as she's lame, What's she got to do With youngsters like you? First, I'd say, don't glory in war, Murder's still murder, as it was before, There is nothing to praise In the terrible ways That bring sacrifice On some stupid advice, "Thou Shalt Not Kill" Should be your guide still, Though hundreds of "Christians" kill every day (Oh, God's on our side, that makes it okay!") Don't be ashamed to be ""working class," Things have come to a pretty pass If you don't know it took ages For folk to earn decent wages, Don't envy that big fat CEO Who makes more than you'll ever know - He crawled to the boss To get all that gloss; And you, young women, don't waste your vote, Women were tortured and killed to promote That particular human right, Read what you can about the fight: You can twiddle your i-Phones And fiddle your cash loans, But don't make a mystery Out of past history; If your ideology Is based on technology, Please don't be averse To the beauty of verse, You needn't think words Are only for nerds, There is everything fine In a well-written line (That makes it a pity This isn't too pretty), Follow your dream, follow your star, Be proud of being whoever you are, And if this seems a bit hysterical, Maybe I don't feel too "lyrical!"
