Requiem for Summer

She vanishes in golden light - one last flare before coldest sleep. Now dew-tears weep among the yews and autumn mists softly shroud her. Trees gently lay down wreaths of leaves and pews of asters sing in blues - valedictory hymns to her. 8 September 2019 Farewell, Summer Poetry Contest Sponsor: Nette Onclaud 7 lines 8 syllables

You have me nearly weeping for the loss of summer...when actually we have so much summer I'm glad to see her go... Such is the power of your perfectly chosen words! Excellent write!

Beautiful Charlotte, I particularly felt/saw/heard the “pews of asters” and their “valedictory hymns”.

I'm touring the 'best new poems' list which led me to this fine gem, it sparkles with seasonal transition most poetically. A joy to read. Poetry hugs ... CayCay
