Remember When We Met

Remember when we met
I jumped on your body right away.
Today that is considered inappropriate,
but you said you like it, so it was ok
I jumped into a pool and came out,
I said to you, "I'm your sparklet water man",
and I cooled you off.
Your hair had curls
my heart did churn.
We went to many places and kissed there,
so many experiences where they went
I don't care.
It's been one minute at a time for us
this way time does not fly by.
I was always a fancy dresser, you said you liked it
I felt like a gentleman.
Fancy cars and fancy shoes, fancy shirts that I did choose
My dad did not like that since he was humble as an apple pie
I smoked dope back then
What a bad habit finally I got rid of that
I'm happy to be able to say.
When you get old
the past is all you have
to look back at,
it's your darn life we are talking about
and ours my dear was a blast.
I was rowdy yes,
but I've mellowed since;
and today I'm alive and grateful to still have you around.

What a wonderfully self-assessing poem, with a happy ending!
