A Life I'll Never Forget

A Life I'll Never Forget

It was an exemplary life of toil, learning, climbing ladders, alongside scuffles
and burns. It was a life of open mouthed oh's oo's and don't. Yes I forged forward and turned the pages of my calendar with soberness. I filled it with a dutiful brow and a face that I inherited from my folks. A few worry lines made their way in and
a few happy wrinkles too. Happiness wasn't something that landed on my shoulder but rather something I allowed in, despite the situations of my life.

Growing up is optional so they say. I'd like to add that I did it intentionally, but that would be a downright lie. It saddled up like a leather seat on a horse with growing pains. Still when I pull back the reins I can see it wasn't a bad life after all.
The sun was plenty, the bed was soft, the family ties, ribbons of love my soul could apprise, from the start. After all I had chosen them as part of my contract. God unrolled the scroll one day and said, "you've chosen your family, now go"

It was a life of gathering flowers for the feast. There were days I only watered, days I inhaled, days I dared to pluck. In the end it all worked out for the best. I have two grown children that I love very much, a husband who is always by my side. We do puppet shows, walk in the rain, drink espresso while watching the sun blush, and love as easily as breathing. So I'm no longer teething over the brink about what it shall be like tomorrow. I live each day for what it's worth. Yes, I lived a life I will never forget, and with the grace of God I will appreciate each day until he calls me home to him.

The End.
