William Darnell Sr Biography

Hello, Everyone

My name, is William Darnell Sr. I'm a retired carpenter, and a father of 5 grown children, 4 boys, and a beautiful daughter. My wife's passed away, 13 yrs now, so that makes me, a widower. My oldest, a son, is passed as well. I also have 6 grandchildren, 4 boys, and 2 beautiful granddaughter's. I've been writing poetry for around 20 yrs. My inspiration's God, my 7th grade English teacher, and my woodshop teacher. The greatest thing I have ever done, was married my wife, may she rest in peace, and the children she has given us. I was supposed to write a story of a tragedy that has happened to my family. But, having some difficulties. So, I'm just going to come right out and tell you. Two of my children had been raped, by a family member as some or maybe most of you might well know. My late wife's little brother done this. I hold myself responsible, most say, it wasn't my fault and I get that. But, the truth is, we knew. more to come... And, for this reason alone, that we knew, I hold responsible. I, as a father, husband, protector, and a man should have been assertive, regardless of my wife's feelings, having our children's best interest at mind, and said no, absolutely not! Ok, this is a Bio, an entry as to who I am, a briefing. I'll carry this story over to my blog. Anyways, that's me!

Best of Wishes,

William

I'm going to assume that this is satire, William. But, in my humble opinion, you cannot plagiarize your own work. As a matter of fact, most poets repeat themselves at some time if they write long enough. You can do what you want with your own work...re-read it, delete it, revise it, add to it, subtract from it, use lines from it in another poem. Knock yourself out!

You're just dead-on, Milton, right straight in there to the point. I believe that's why I like you, Milton, and I value your insights and your visit. Thank you! Best of Wishes, William

Moral rights reserved, ie you as the author are the only person who may use or effect aleterations to your work. Only in prose, manuscripts, theses, etc the question about plagiarism of your own work comes into play, for example, including sections of your own published work. But it does not include poetry as it is recognised as work in progress and copyrighted from the very first draft.

I just read an article of yours this morning, Suzette! A good write about syllables and the history of how far back poetry goes. But, thank you for further clarity on the subject. I appreciate you taking time out of your day for this, plus I value your visit. Best of Wishes, William

Thank you very much, Craig, for the simple version; no, I like it, my friend! And, I didn't think you could, as I used include: "The moral rights of the author have been asserted." Best of Wishes, William

William, I often repost a poem with some edits from the original and I see nothing wrong in improving a poem written before, sometimes I re-write the same theme of an old poem, keeping the words but in a different form, I do not think you can plagiarize your own poems ~ peace and tranquility _Constance

Hi, Constance! Good morning! I do revisions and then notate as being a revised edition, along with date, time, etc. Example: I posted a new poem yesterday titled: Amber Rivers of Regret, which afterward, I forgot to put in the word Past because it's titled Amber Rivers of Past Regret, but seeing it wasn't too long after, I didn't revise it. Relax ,William, you cannot plagiarize your own compositions. You may resubmit them under a different name, tweak or change them, improve upon them, or completely rewrite them...they are your creation, and as long as they are your thoughts and not someone else's you cannot in any way be accused of, plagiarize them, I have never come across anyone laying claim to any of my poems, but should I discover such a thing, I would definitely report that person for plagiarism, which is the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own. Emile.

Emile, Thanks for further clarifying this for me. I didn't think as much, but the question remained and drove me nuts. Now, I can breathe. Thanks for your visit and clarity. I have already found two of my poems on the same website, and I have reported the matter to the Copyrights Office. I try to keep up on this and do a check now every three months, but I believe they should make websites implement something like a social hub, etc., and cut down on the ole' copy and paste thing. I also rate the site as good, bad, and ugly and reputation by transparency and algorithms, Wot(Web of Trust) Best of Wishes, William.

Hi, Jan! Good morning! Thanks for responding. I was driving myself nuts over this. Yes, I found two of mine on the web as well. Only, They changed the title and placed their name on it. I wasn't happy about it either. Thanks again, Jan, for your response here. I value your opinion. Best of Wishes, William
