When Silence Speaks

When Silence speaks, stars surrender their sparkle to the night; Luna’s glow sweeps awe above the world. When Silence speaks, Luna caresses the face of her beloved sea; Speechless are the crests of hills on which sea’s waves are tossed. When Silence speaks, the hills lie still, fading into shadows. Shadows creep quietly into the nearby forest. When Silence speaks, the forest’s trees rustle whispers to the wind. The leaves of the trees drift with wind’s every surge. When Silence speaks, the wind, unheard as I lie dreaming, swirls its way mysteriously into my dream. When Silence speaks, my dream whirls me into enchantment. I waken to the first flush of dawn . . . and gone are the stars.

This is such a beautiful poem dear Andrea. Every line is so beautifully written and there’s such an air of tranquility gently moulding around each poetic thought - silence. Visually it’s stunning too - with the stars, luna’s glow, sea waves, hills and forest trees. I particularly love,’ Luna caresses the face of her beloved sea’ and the last couplet. An enchanting read. Divine! Wonderful contest entry. Have a lovely day :)

I love the first couplet, and how the entire poem paints a picture. The poem moves well, and there's a subtle change at the end.

Wow, wow, wow, Andrea! The ink didn't spill here. It flowed silence in crafting this clever work here. The last stanza resonates for me, love it, and a fav. (When Silence speaks, my dream whirls me into enchantment. I waken to the first flush of dawn . . . and gone are the stars.) Warm Regards, William

Loved the repeated opening lines of each couplet. Great imagery and lovely ideas. Shadows creep quietly into the nearby forest. If I were a real poet, this would lead me to write a dark poem.

I felt such serenity and peace as I read your poem, Andrea. You used the 'list' form effectively. I especially liked "When Silence speaks, my dream whirls me into enchantment. I waken to the first flush of dawn . . . and gone are the stars." Best wishes with this entry into the contest. hugs, Sara
