Not All Poets Are Kindred Souls

Not all poets are kindred souls That theory is full of holes For a few, poetry extols Different goals Different goals Words guided by what's in our hearts Wanderlusts or humorous thoughts I value artful counterparts I don't hurl darts I don't hurl darts Don't point fingers of shame at me I treat no one with treachery and I don't act like a queen bee Hypocrisy Hypocrisy Don't harm poets with pen or knife If you're unhappy with your life Why are you filled with angst and strife Like Barney Fife Like Barney Fife Sadness is a depressing trait A mood that might simply abate If you stop whining... mitigate No need for hate No need for hate I'm not part of a gang or pack My friends and I do not attack We have not stabbed you in the back Disgruntled flack Disgruntled flack Take screenshots like a bombardier We've no need to tremble in fear You've no reason to shed a tear Now is that clear? Now is that clear? With poisoned seeds of malice sown Repeated complaints you bemoan A cawing crow you now are known Contentious prone Contentious prone Broken fences will never mend With a mindset that will not bend Into those depths I'll not descend I will transcend I will transcend I'll write no more and waste my time On one who thinks her views sublime I will choose a healthier clime To write in rhyme To write in rhyme

I love the form you chose to bring out your point, Jenna, I guess some are just not mature enough, as you say, we must transcend:)

The problem I have with poets and politics is that some(one in particular lately) seems to think her views are the only ones that are correct. I confess that I haven't read you enough to know if you're guilty or not, but I will read you. I believe everyone has the right to be heard or to write about their opinion, but no one should be called names for it. Thanks for reading me tonight, Indiana.

Oh yes, love this, talk about weeding the trolls out! They'll never win while we have poets like yourself Jenna. love this is amazing poetry. In regards to your reply to Jan, its is not unknown, for a troll to leave and then return under another name, we once had a guy here, that died and then he wrote a blog and address it from is wife, sometimes i believe he still here, some of the patterns fit his profile. Anyhow Jenna you are a gem, a tough one at that.

Hi Harry. It's despicable what the person you describe did. Some people hide behind masks and we wonder what's out of tune in their minds. Thank you for such sweet support. I appreciate your visit to my poetry.

powerful ink Jenna, love the impact of the repeated phrase. Not sure what has been going on recently but In the past I've seen nasty poems and comments made and then removed but all too often the damage is done. one thing for sure you will be here to write on! hugs jan xx

Thanks, Jan. The form is Monotetra. What's been happening is dogmatism. One person intolerable of those who have different views in soup has been replaced by another who resorts to name calling when someone disagrees with her. Chicken Little didn't fly into such tantrums. I didn't want to let the name calling slide. Thanks for the supportive comments.

It used to be a lot worse some time back on here Jenna and many talented poets left because of it. Agree to disagree, everyone has different opinions on most subjects and people should respect that. I remember when I was at work I worked along many from different cultures and faiths and yes we didn't see eye to eye on many things but we respected each others opinions and beliefs. Tom

Hi, Jenna, Tom, and Jan! I'm glad I decided to come home. Anyways; Changes begin within ourselves first before we can illuminate outwards. The only reason I am commenting here is that I like all three of you, folks. Again, excellent penning, Ms. Jenna. Don't give up hope for all things being because miracles' do happen; I'm living proof. I genuinely hope you find your way through this wholeheartedly cause this is madness. I follow all of you, and I am sorry I have never commented on people's poetry, such as yourselves, because I had to get me straight first and foremost. Well, I'm Home now, and things will change as far as me commenting on other's poetry. Again, Ms. Jenna, excellent penning here; keep up the good work, and I love everything about your rhyme. To you beautiful people, you, I bid you good night. Best of Wishes, William

You're right, Tom. It's all a matter of disrespect. Some people are so gung ho about their beliefs that they rage when someone has different ones. That's ridiculously closed-minded and obtuse. Thanks for your thoughts.

Sadly nothing changes I've lost too many friends on the site because they couldnt cope with the bitching and backbiting, I thought it had got better but sadly its not the case as Jenna's poem shows

Great pen Jenna telling it as it is but with great imagery and insightful word too. Especially love your final line as it's music to my ears like myself to write in rhyme! Take care always, Gordon

Brilliantly written Jenna! Anytime someone post a political poem they should expect different points of view without knocking over their bucket of cr$&y

Yep, they can dish it out but can't take it in return. Strange how closed-minded some people can be. It's hypocrisy to the max. Thanks for leaving your thoughts, Mark. I'm in full agreement with you.

Thanks for commenting, Susan. It's good judgement to rise above the bitterness of revenge. There's no need for name calling, so I'm over the petty niggling.

This place sure felt more kindred before politics took over. Poets are a funny bunch, I’d say a little more sensitive than most. Keep flexing your poetic chops. xomo

You're absolutely right, Mo. Everyone has an opinion, but problems arise when disrespect is shown for what another believes. It's exasperating.

Excellent writing Jenna, sometimes when dealing with intransigence, it’s better to circumvent, not with a pincer movement, more in a bypass manner, that way your path continues to forge ahead; cheers David
