My Shield

You stood as my shield, oh, Lord:
As the morning shines on through
Then came by my afternoon
I was having a bad day
I tried hard to shew it away.

You stood as my shield when,
I watched my storm settle to rain
I'm so grateful to you
My storm would've pounded me
Then thrashed me away.

You stood as my shield when,
I, at my weakest, you endured for me
To be the shield you've been for me
Through my days, through my storms
I hail a victory in what is ensured.

You stood as my shield, oh Lord;
It's now, the time I stand for you
Knowing you're at my side
Knowing your strength, nobly true
My Teacher, my Shield, my Lord, Truth.
