A Forgotten Love

A Forgotten Love

A Poem by JC Hawkens

That which I long for
I left somewhere in the past
My lovely fall dream

When my winter came
Long lost in spring was she gone
My sweet sad sorrow

Thinking of fall days
Lost in thoughts of tomorrow
May of what will come

Hope of future days
Beauty is she that follows
Hearts mend on morrow

The past gets us like that, for real, "if only", the "if onlies".

I know, right. But what sweet remembrance those memories can be. And in poetic verse, what more adorable.

That my friend is a beautiful description, I had not thought of it that way. The sound of rain is a lovely thing, and now that I think back when walking in the rain, I do think of fond memories. Thank you for taking the time to read my poem and the lovely comment. Stay well. JC Hawkens

To be interested in the changing seasons is a happier state of mind than to be hopelessly in love with spring. Your love is within you...
