Berteena was born and raised in the Ozarks. She grew up in a small Southern Missouri town near the Arkansas border.
Berteena is a perpetual poetry reader. She has a passion for art and music. She is a poet, blogger, writer, and storyteller.
Berteena was always creative as a child. She was drawing, creating collage, painting with oil paints, and mixed media beginning in grammar school. She was active in music and choir throughout her upbringing in Southern Missouri.
Her interest in writing emerged at a young age. She began keeping journals in her teens. When she discovered her talents for poetry, she realized that her journals would become a source of self discovery and self healing. She uses writing as a way to channel her inner dialogue into words that many people can relate to.
She began publishing poetry on Twitter in 2011 and then her blog Harmony of the Soul at www.berteena.com that same year. She discusses her journey from brokenness to healing. She often tackles controversial subjects. She is known for her confessional writing style.
She later created her blog Songs of Bee at www.berteena.wordpress.com where she adheres to her Christian beliefs and values in poetic form.
Berteena became interested in writing haiku while she lived overseas in Okinawa, Japan. She publishes her haiku on her blog Wild Orchid Haiku www.wildorchidhaiku.com where she explores the exotic and sensual side of modern haiku.
Berteena has several projects to be released at a later date. She has been featured in online articles and zines.
