Flesh That Virtue Takes

The glass chatters, clanks, and shatters As it hits the ground But makes no sound The only thing heard is the Screams of pain As I get hit into the glass Blood everywhere Pain unbearable The ripping of flesh Cracking of bones Screams of pain Yet no one hears the screams No one to save me From this nightmare From that thing Evil and putrid Bragging of his virtue But he’s hurting me Ripping my skin Breaking my bones No one can hear my screams of pain Why can’t they hear me? Does virtue truly block others from seeing the torment before them? Does it make its followers so blind they cant see the bruises? Does it make its followers so deaf they can’t hear me begging for mercy?

Greetings, Hannah! Congratulations on your POTW - truly a courageous poem exposing the silent screams, hidden scars, from abuse that is not seen, heard or acknowledged. Thank you for writing this poem. So well done with memorable images that tell the story. The more this "putrid" "evil" is exposed, the more we can do to stop it! Sending prayers for all those in abusive relationships and blessings to you!

So many suffer in silence, their pain unseen and unheard, we live in a world that forgets to see beyond smiles, the reality, of someones pain and struggles! Very well delivered! Love the way it flows with such descriptive diction! Congratulations on POTW

An extraordinarily strong and emotional work. Your suffering, the pain you've felt, the voiceless bellowing of unheard mercy. I felt it through your very deep poetry. Congratulations, Hannah, on POTW. Splendid work, truly. Warm Regards, William

Dear Hannah, your thoughts touch my heart so deeply. Yes, it's possible for those causing others pain, to totally block out every sight and sound. (When adrenaline is that high.) Such a scary situation, indeed. You've expressed this experience so well, through your words. Congratulations my dear friend, on Poem of the Week. My best to you. Hugs, Brandy

....Its not when adrenaline is high??? If anything you notice more when adrenaline is high. Its the every day you pass the child and its got bruises but you say nothing. Its seeing their tear streaked cheeks and thinking nothing of it.... Its about the blindness society suffers when they turn to sheep.

I know you're confused and suffering in this poem. The pain and anguish are real. You need help without having to ask for it, and it will come. I pray this is not your real-life experience, but an observation of how those in abuse situations see their experiences. Intense and powerful emotions come forth as I read this tragic poem. Hannah. My payer or for help for all that suffer at the hands of an abuser. Congratulation on your POTW. Enjoy the recognition you well deserve. Bill

Not exactly confused. Its more frustrated? I ask you pray for others as I do not gain comfort but the sentiment is understood.

Such a powerful poem; your imagery was effective evoking emotions of the pain and anguish that comes from abuse. I could feel the cracking of bones and hear the screams that no one hears. Congrats on Poem of the Week, Sara
