Premium MemberPort of Call

O Death, how dost thou captivate the mind
And shape one’s final days as light grows dim.
Though man in earnest looks, naught will he find;
Close to thy breast are held thy secrets grim.

For some, inchoate fear of the unknown;
For others, quests unfinished, incomplete.
Some acquiesce to toss a worm a bone;
’Tis rare the ones with open arms thou greet.

In these, perhaps a hint of the divine
Has sparked imagination, fancies spawned.
Yet faith that takes a leap must not consign
When breaking free into the great beyond.

Assured, yes, but I shan't be in thy thrall,
For thou art but an ordained port of call.

Child In a Quiver

Catholic education taught me all my Ps and Qs
 when nuns and priests coached a child's reluctant view,
in a quandary and a quiver
   to kneel up straight and perfectly perpendicular,
amidst the gold and platinum rich cathedrals
  churches of quicksand-like quag pews medieval,
shaped for the prostrating prayerful penitent
   awaiting an offenders penance and its remnants,
in somber quiet of quaint old confessional tombs
  while incense burns a bitter scented perfume ,
quintessentially questioning everything qued
  perpetuating a  quay  to conclude
when to sink or swim in perplexing quirky quotes
  of pseudo pallid pantomimes of forgiveness and hope,
when tranquil  poise  in prayer
  extolls the loss of childhood innocence repaired.

Using up those Ps and Qs with an added one or two.

Humming Sorrow

Humming Sorrow

(Replaces 'a' with 'q')

Seeping smogged smithereens in mqrrows,
Cqllous pqin hums hymnql sorrow:
Junk jive embroidered with crescendoes,
Rough rhythms in reefs grow
Qs the offshoot red glow.

Eqrs fqr qwqy heqrd
The music crescendoes bled.
Into pity, heqrts moved.
Sixth octqve,  notes improved.

Teqrs trqiling trqcks,
Pqin pqsting pqts,
Music melting mqss.

Music fqdes.
Then cqme,

Know God Never Denies

Know God Never Denies

We know that God never denies,
My oh my how time always flies;
For His sake;
Prayer will make;
Much faster than we did realize;
A soldier fighting in a field dies.

For Jack Ellison and More

Here A Buck and There A Buck

We never wanted to make a buck;
You and I have been nip and tuck;
Poems love writing;
Each other inviting;
Out more poems we should shuck.

(Before gold someone else struck.)

Do you remember those days. I just keep adding poems
to my latest poem and add AND MORE to the title.

Short Not Long Thighs

Are no poets I know who denies,
My poems are words for the wise;
President ignore,
And do  deplore;
Trump likes short and not long thighs.

Chivalry Delivery Comes With Misery.
Dose of Adipose is gross. Prose on you grows everyone knows. Prospect we select should be correct. Decline being mine which is fine. When announced on pounced and was trounced. Administered to a herd that occurred. Canadian and Ukrainian were insane again. Now let me copy and paste.

Biggest Eagle Nest Ever Built

Biggest Eagle Nest Ever Built

With law of nature eagle does eagerly comply
To and from her home she always will fly
Returning back to biggest nest ever built
Had been so sturdy that it will never wilt.

Head is bright white and also shiny beak
And over a long river fish she does seek
Will provide meal for her and her young
Food that she found and home has brung.

On top of majestic nest eagle does perch
Glaring eyes down on countryside search
Over a rare, beautiful, benevolent land
For her by God had been perfectly planned.

High up in sky eagle steered and steered
After her twilight neared she disappeared
Night became dark after dusk grew dim
God took her back to heaven to be with Him.

Horn Haiku Trilogy Solution Saying

Horn Haiku Trilogy Solution Saying

My wife Jill was reading a comment to me
that my friend Terry had posted onto
FaceBook so I wrote my Horn Haiku.

You will have to start
From within first, Then have to
Start working way out.

When we can never
Fully understand our self,
How can we others?

So take one minute,
Release all our emotions
Again be born free.

Dedicated To Bishop Curry, Skirving and Father Davis

Dedicated to Bishop Curry, Skirving and Father Davis

Why do some people have to be hurt?
By despicable person and treated like dirt
Trying to gun down everyone in sight
Either during day or else late at night.

Is it disorder related to a personality?
Someone who has trouble facing reality
Maybe mind warped from being mistreated
Never reaching goal and is always defeated.

Regardless of what happened God forgives
And His spirit in us does continue to live
As well as love, patience and complete purity
While we exist in his presence, not obscurity.

God's Son Jesus died to save us from sin
And later to earth will return back again
Should seek to find what They are about
And Episcopal Church be sure to try out.

That was me sitting in the front pew.

Nicola Byrne

Nicola Byrne

Now know that her name is Nicola Byrne
Writes great poems with a smooth iron
And I also have heard some poets say
She recently had another Poem of The Day.

Poem was about a person who was a pedant
Who for long life and acting had a pendant
And something else that also is ironical
She has become Byronically Byrneimical.

Jesus Name On Ballot

Jesus Name on Ballot

If to whole world I were to be entertaining
Sure would need an awful lot of training
The with me God had made a proposal
My Son to earth shall send his exposal.

Movie we were seeing had a trailer
About person who was the nailer
Of Jesus's hands and his wrists
He died and was sorely missed.

Earth shook while wind would blow
Everyone there eventually did know
Jesus left us with His Father to be
In heaven full of peace and tranquility.

Many Easters have all passed since then
Jesus was man among all women and men
Died on cross that was put on a pallet
Anytime can put his name on my ballot.

With Music Added

?With Music Added

This sunny morning thought that I

Say hi to nice neighbor who I live by

And a great guitar he does play

With wife wonderful looking in every way.

Maybe might invite me over again

So we can see how we both have been

A song write about good old days

When my dancing received much praise.

Would be something if on one night

Clubhouse to eat would bring a bite

And some showing off I might do

That was sure to amuse all of you.

But being as old as we now are

Will not see me as a rising star

Even though my wife is adorable

Me and my writing are deplorable.

So Salvation Can Start To See

So Salvation Can Start To See

When God's word we first had heard
His miracle in the making then occurred
One day for us His Son would be born
Later die on cross suffering from scorn.

In cradle was worshiped by only a few
Who were kind to His Son and they knew
That their true savior was about to be
Saving souls and from sin setting us free.

For forty days with Father He had been
So new life we all could start over again
And told God everything we had done
Not seeing Him as savior and Holy One.

Jesus must have thought we were insane
On God's Son starting a smear campaign
Dragging Him down a street in small town
Hearing threats and jeers from all around.

Died and three days later He did return
Said words to disciples which were stern
Above all else you must believe in me
So your salvation you can start to see.

Play song below while reading this poem.

Obama Speech On Gun Control Rewrite

Obama Speech on Gun Control
on January 5th, 2016 at White House

Were they really great gun owners
Or strange losers and also loners
Mentally unbalanced and also unfit
With bad habits they could not quit.

Down path by Congress again are led
A student has been shot in his head
Where will all of this possibly end?
Tears to President's eyes did send.

So Obama stood up before a crowd
Said accept responsibility and shout loud
People may blunder and up things botch
But it better not happen on my watch.

James Thomas Horn

I am very sad that no one has given this a high rating.
It truly is one of the best poems I have ever written.

like the other one I just wrote about this subject for instance.
