Veranillo de Membrillo

(Spanish people find September to be very sad:
they call it "the little summer of the quince".)

Somehow, the silver birches simply know.
This splendid heaven, pure refulgent blue
can not abide. The grass fronds, stiff as glue,
like swifts and grillos, uninclined to go,
are troubled by the carking of the crow.

El Baile de los Chisos

Like a burnished silver concho, from Pancho Villa’s boot
That ol’ Spanish moon comes slidin’ over Encantada Butte
Then the Chisos they go stealin’, down Coahuila way
Montaña mariachis and they’re comin’ out to play

  Baile con mio M'hijito
  Señoritas, come dance and sing
  Dance por mañana acechanzas
And soon the long shadows grow

Coup de Foudre

They told me, if you’re camping and it’s raining,
to never touch the fabric of the tent
inside: they said it breaks the seal, explaining
that any person so improvident

She was not invited

She was arranged

They never wanted Jasmine
not the woman who brought basil-clean hands
and pomegranate soap
who harmonized soliloquies into pastries
while they offered only
hinges rusted shut

She was not guest

She was garnish

Not Jasmine the flower
but Jasmine the bulb
strangled in its own clay
frost biting at the marrow
buried beneath their polite

to love for you

Some people love me
some can't stand it
when I'm happy
it's a draw back
some adore me

Warmth of Similarity

You remind me of a synchronized play of violins
Soothing to the vibrations they play
Your touch is the rhythm of a string
hold me gently with similarity

Guy De Vere, Not So Sincere

After Lenore, by Edgar Allan Poe

Broken—yes—the golden-locked and beautiful Lenore,
Gone from us forevermore, to grace our eyes no more.
And thou, De Vere, who scornful stands with hollow, cold disdain—
It’s clear to all, thy mournful cries are pitiful and vain.
Let the exequy commence! Let sorrow find its voice,
While thou, false mourner, face thy fate—be judged for

Cyrano de Bergerac 1619-1655

Cyrano de Bergerac
entered a race
not fleet of foot
but hoping to place
tho' quick off the mark
the competition so tough
kept him on his toes
when the going got rough
yet setting the pace
he won by a nose...
the schnozz on his face

With apologies to Edmond Rostand (1868 – 1918)

I saw something subtle, in Mr. De Niro
I get the gist Trump, is just not his hero.
He’s not a good fella, and not his godfather;
And was sure the election, would be a big slaughter.

"Faith and Fireworks: Cinco’s Call to Remember"
(A Linking Pin Sonnet in Spence Format – Celebratory & Historical)

Remember the cry, the cause, the stand,
Stand for the faith that defended the land.
Land once trembling rose firm and proud,
Proud were the voices chanting aloud.

Aloud rang truth through valley and hill,
Hill of defiance, God’s sovereign will.
Will of the people,

Premium MemberBE KIND - THANK U Collab with Alanis

video of "Ironic" is for my 'Cinco De Mayo' contribution.

Alanis Morissette, emotive mezzo-soprano voice
and confessional songwriting with a feminist’s choice
Canadian, nineties rock-star famous for Jagged Little Edge
Raw naked cringe-y to the profound, empowering by virtue I pledge

(She’s helped countless women and girls to find their voices, to speak out, and to take up space)

I’m …

(thus told)
oft’ purveyor of a pen
drowning in the anguish of the heart …
bulletin:
love - not always love
love - always pain
always -
all ways …
wherever, whatever, WHOever the
soul divides for,
consumed, one day …
lost to time’s bitter casualty -
forever’s coda,
postscript of existentialist id …
not an iota
escapes the darkest of fates
ALL is impermanent
and sorrow, the outcome …
