Dammit, I may have to block myself. Hang on people/poets just funnin' and messin' with the algorithmic ministry of poetic authentication. Maybe I should have FAVED it!!! you know, like, well, anyway.....I may be in detention for a few days....just hope they don't summon me "TO THE PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE" OK, OK, IT WAS ME.....I SLIPPED THAT MONOKU UNDER THE DOOR.

I have heard it stated lately that "HUMOR, IRONY, COMEDY AND FUN ...ARE DEAD". Therefore, I cannot bring myself to 'APOLOGIZE' for attempting to insert a bit of humor into the soup. How is it that most who commented seemed to have missed or misinterpreted the statement "Hang on people/poets just funnin' and messin' with the algorithmic ministry of poetic authentication"

To be fair Tom I'm not sure I read anything here that attacked anyone. If anyone made an assumption then I'd always apologise but I was just hoping to laugh with people whose humour I felt I was familiar with. Not to laugh at anyone's POTD but at the behind the scenes wizardry of Poetry Soup. I certainly won't be doing that again for a long time...

What's truly funny is that cyber emotions are like road rage - so easy to be superlative and demonstrative when we can just "drive away" and not face the emotional consequences - yet, they live...hmm---it's truly more than screaming at the TV---we have been more disconnected actually, but no...we must find a new way to communicate in abstentia--like Stephen Crane's "The Open Boat" - "so close, but yet so far"?

Yes as i manage my own communities i pay attention to plagiarism. AI generated poems lack emotions and can be detected theres a pattern, we use AI detectors to detect however they are not always accurate too. And some poems can be tricky too. I was a bit pleased seeing on soup rules “ no AI poems allowed” and yes you were joking but thought maybe you mentioned as some do use it here. John is a fun person and its nice to meet you too. Isn’t AI not allowed on soup? Isnt there an AI detecting system here? AI has become a huge issue in poetry community now even on instagram, but you can detect AI work, from the pattern its written and we have a community page exposing such plagiarism.

Hi John, you are always so sincere with how you express and tell others what you feel about things, i noticed that, and i saw your blog and was curious to know what’s happening as i am new here, i have no idea how poetry soup algorithm works, as its only been a month since i got here on soup. I was told by previous soupers that soup is a supportive space and community for poets where poets are mature and respectful. However i have been feeling lately like iv been attacked and indirectly ridiculed for how i comment, and how i write, which is sad, and i dont think i should change myself, for anyone, i have always been someone who gives feedback wholeheartedly on poems, and it doesnt involve -

I honestly didn't know about the algorithm of this site. Actually, I don't know even till now. I wanted to explore the world of poetry and along way improve mine as well, that's why I joined the platform. I try to always support everyone, as & when time permits and try to comment wholeheartedly too like you said whenever I visit anyone's page. Because, as far as I know, I've come across many wonderful poets and I'm learning from everyone a lot. Being a young poet of 18, I still have so much to explore and to evolve. I too, feel in a similar way, of being attacked for my writing style and comments, but I still hope that everyone understands, we all are here, together, for poetry and because of poetry.

intentions” you can ask anyone on instagram poetry community, how i respond to their poems, and why communities i am a founder of is appreciated by other poets. Its sad that i see this behavior, makes me wonder, whats evn the point of POTD? This is a small community, what does silent one or anyone else from instagram get out of being potd here? We have bigger audience on instagram where we can get more appreciation and recognition, however it is what it is and as you have been kind on my poems i thought I would express myself too here. And i hope soup would be fair and give every poet the chance to get featured. Theres no such thing as real poetry and fake poetry, poetry is poetry, we all hve our own style of writing and expressing. Unless a poem is about someone else or something. I don't agree with the algorithms, I've never been a fan. I could not care less if I got POTD or not. I do t think it has anything to do with how people comment. Nor do I see myself as a master poet. People are free to comment how they wish, as rhey do. All that other stuff mentioned I have nonidea what that is about.

I am joining this conversation very late, a friend referred it to me asking my opinion, and frankly I don't have one, ecxept for the mention of POTD's. Recent one of my poems was so well accepted by dozens of comments it was awarded a POTD. (first time ever) I hope it never happens again. 3 pages of congrats. Took me forever to answer them all, then the trickle down effect, for days after ppl were still congratulating me. I rue the day I was given POTD and sincerely hope it never happens again. The comments on the poem BEFORE the potd are quite enough.

I think it's how many fave it also. And how many views. To be honest the comment suggestion is the first time I've heard that. I know that i got POTD on the same day last month..so has to be something in the algorithm which means the best poems are not featured and some peots never get read

I've never bought into the algorithm thing. Too many poems get potd that have had little prior support. Who knows how they are chosen. My recommendation: Support the folk who write their best poetry according to their unique style and ability, ignore or reject those that ridicule or target a fellow poet in a negative light. Today's potd was a great choice for two reasons: awesome use of alliteration, and this particular poet is well known for supporting others

I know some take offense to the use of the word amateur. Not sure why. Here's a definition: A person who engages in sport, study or some other activity for pleasure rather than for financial benefit or professional reasons. Hope this helps ;)

I'm not sure if this blog or other comments are aimed at me, I don't comment in my own poems, not do I ask people to comment how they do. People should be free to comment as they wish this is an amateur website none of us and professional poets, otherwise we would not be here. Supporting others is how a community grows and there are many who do that. I applaud those with a community spirit and long may it continue
