HOORAY for the N-A

Hooray for the N/A That’s all that I can say That is N/A as in Not Again Or N/A as in Nearly Awesome (but I (the sponsor) didn’t get it Or it didn’t get me) Yet, I stand astride poetry's fence As one who gives and takes offence At times…to those who do not get my lines. I sponsor contests, enter some Some quite serious Some for fun And as for the dread of the N/A I check the stats the very next day For even in “losing” I always win For N/A does not mean Never Again

“Not again” was funny! This made me smile. I receive NA’s too especially on poems that mean the most to me. And comes from my heart. Makes me think its because Maybe i sound like a moaner moana. I need to write a footle about moaner moana (me) Your wittiness is just amazing!

You made a good point in a rhyming, bold poem, that tells it like it is. I use NA quite often in the context, "mind your own business". I like this style of poetry.

John, once I found that some sponsors of a contest had never written a poem they asked for and realized this site allows people to post 20 poems a day I came to understand how unserious it all is, so have fun, I've had so many NA'S I could start a 50's song...NANANANANAN

John, you made me chuckle! A playful jab at the elusive award, and a cheeky wink at the subjectivity of poetry itself. Who among us hasn't stared down an N/A with a mix of curiosity and…well, maybe a smidge of "nearly awesome" disappointment? But you're right, the journey is the prize, and even in "losing," we gain the invaluable experience of putting words to the wind. Poetry's not about trophies, but the dance of language / spirit. Here's to many more stanzas, N/A or not! - Blessings, Daniel

I've had so many that I've become immune to the consequences. I actually counted them yesterday in a contest I had with Mayor Cunningham. I won that one, but it's actually a loss to have the most. Anyway, I'm not contesting contests any longer. Gave em up.
