TAXING THOUGHTS

TAXING THOUGHTS Let us hide behind a litany of lunacy Of gods and Gods, prophets and profits Does it do any good to feed the hungry When we are the cause of the hunger To take money from those who work And give it to those who can’t or won’t Do the presidents dogs really need SS protection More than his garage door needs a lock Why does the Red hat of the toreador Arouse such venom in the capeless Must I give up my right to be me So that you can exercise your right to be you Must I turn away Lest my eyes offend you Silence my laughter To sooth your self-centeredness Must I teach my children and grandchildren That they are less than because of who they are Let us hide behind a plethora of flags And mock the one allowing them to fly

indeed perplexing thoughts...and one's that we wouldn't have even fathomed a decade ago and certainly not in my earlier years. Some of what you allude to angers me...'must I teach my grandchildren that they are less because of who they are.' Makes my Texas blood boil! I wholeheartedly agree with the last two lines!!!** Well penned...! have a pleasant evening, Sara

Well told. Immaturity and entitlement are taking a toll. The question to them: "What have you done?"

How do we psychoanalyze a crazy world. Like Lin says, Stop it. I want to get off. Well written, John. Best, SuZ

We shouldn't do any of those things. The world has turned upside down and everything that used to be good, is no more. There are so many examples, and you've mentioned just a few that are depressingly obvious. It's a "What's in it for me" world. Reminds me of that old movie. 'Stop the World. I Wanna Get Off.'
