this trail of words

Had they left this trail of words Leading to a shadow Concealing a mystery As a challenge Perhaps A map-less guide To an unknown horizon Peeking over a surprised sunrise Maybe an invitation To an unscheduled celebration A moment of awakening Dancing atop a pointed moon Awash in a midnight surf A wrinkled paper Scribbled upon By life.

sometimes my trail of words leads to that shadowy mystery to which you refer. I feel like I'm journeying with a mapless guide to that unknown horizon you mentioned. This poem is deeper than it looks and I enjoyed reading it. Have a great evening, Sara

I've heard what happens to the best laid plans. Life doesn't always go as planned, and I've gotten lost more than once trying to follow a map, a rule, an invitation. I'd rather find my way to the top of the moon. What a place to write poetry, but I'd not leave a trail of my words for others to follow. Maybe I'll make paper planes of them and send them to Earth. Your thoughts always take me to places I'd never dream of being able to go. Great stuff, John.
