Had they left this trail of words
Leading to a shadow
Concealing a mystery
As a challenge
Perhaps
A map-less guide
To an unknown horizon
Peeking over a surprised sunrise
Maybe an invitation
To an unscheduled celebration
A moment of awakening
Dancing atop a pointed moon
Awash in a midnight surf
A wrinkled paper
Scribbled upon
By life.
