Hi .....l don't know how this happening but l have noticed it's been happening for a while now......Random poems getting "massive" amounts of views compared to all others posted around it. This morning my poem had 259 views while all else around are single or lower doubled numbers? I have seen views in the mid 300's. There is no way l genuinely recieved that many views in that short amount of time "or ever" Haha! I don't understand how it is happening? Any ideas??

Hi Deb. I've posted a poem early today and it showed around 50 hits half hour ago. I've just noticed now - just half an hour later- that it is showing over 200 hits. As much as I'd like to believe that number I don't. There must be a glitch. I'm lucky if I get 200 hits after 4 weeks. Strange days indeed. Cheers - Gary

Hello to all, it's -- NO GLITCH. Having note of this some months ago to my 1st eh! I raised a red flag from its 1st start based on imbalance: readers/triple-digits, commenters/ZIP! Having no voice in favor--took Pilate's washcloth to flap in the wind. C'est la vie, helter-skelter, myself and the rest of PS ran amuck! UNTIL 2-3 months back, I found my poem that was rising that day--sitting on the Google page, right below the white-spaced search window, THO' separated, my poem sat at the top, surrounded in full PS regalia, and that the separation was the phrase: Trending searches. Pardon as disinterest: Ali would lose will too.

So many odd things going on in soup and glitches are not being fixed but when i see a series of poems by a poet with no comments and 200 reads as soon as its posted makes me think perhaps AI is at work or some other way to get multiple reads but I don't bother reading it, they obviously dont need my input same with poets who post loads of comments on their own poems - you have to question the logic of these people.:-( hugs jan xx

I assumed it was the amount of soupers who are scrolling through to skim the"newpoems" section. It counts how many are scrolling even though they may not be reading. That amount will vary depending on the time of day you post your poem I think. But who knows?

Hi Crystol If you check how many poets are 'on line' usually about 12 plus depending on the time of day it can rise to about 30 you can tell people are not reading a poem that is posted and magically gets hundreds of 'reads'within seconds of it going on line

It has happened to me a couple of times, first time I was so excited that people were reading my poems but then realised it was bizarre as the count was rocketing everytime I refreshed the page. I agree with Dilly, a glitch. Although a large number of views makes people think your poem is popular and must be good so they are more inclined to read it so it then becomes self feeding and snowballs further. Probably a mix of glitch and genuine intrigue. I wondered if certain keywords for submission affected it. I can never find appropriate keywords anyway as my poems never seem to fit them properly but that's a different topic.

I think it's a tripling effect for things posted at certain times. If I post once a day it seems to happen to one or two but not those around. I'm confident it's a glitch. This is hardly the most sophisticated of programming. It's been happening for ages and never seems connected to title or effect the surrounding poems.

I was thinking perhaps it was an individual or individuals as there are some poets that post lots of poems and every poem has 200+ views always… mostly without a comment! Who knows Dilly but its strange and l felt uncomfortable with having so many views compared to other poems around me….Thanks….Debx

See soupmail for response. My comments changed by the time i got to the end. Popular game that is played by who I don’t know but it’s called missing comments. You go back at night to reread your comments and they’re gone or you write to someone and they’re gone. PS clains, no knowledge. Pangiexx

Deb, good blog and question ! I have noticed that also and wondered how it is happening and more importantly why. I have never, ever received that many views on any poem in all the years I have been on PS, so what the heck ? Constance

i believe it is the PS algorithm messing with us....perhaps AI may have a sense of humor.....but seriously....I've noticed this also...maybe the mice ae playing Pickle Ball on the keyboard....
