Notes About The Poem

Marmite Is King

Deb an Aussie girl swears by vegemite
Now personally I don't think she's right
She's got in her head
It's the only spread
But for me nothing on earth beats MARMITE

A splendid frolicking limerick, creatively creative, the juxtaposition of vegimite and marmite is amazing....

Ha Ha : Tom: I am in the Vegemite camp as I was raised on the song, “We’re happy little Vegemites.” But I have to admit as an ex-pat I had to settle for Marmite when I couldn’t get the Vegemite. They come close. Trick is to know not to spread it too thick. Best, SuZ

Thank you very much Suz, I'd never tried Vegemite until recently and it was quite a pleasant taste, you're right though, spreading both thinly is the way to enjoy them. Tom

Tom, you have outdone yourself once again with another brilliant limerick. I am stunned. I haven't tried any of them either. I'm curious as to who will win. I hope everything is going well for you.

Thank you very much Lasaad, antibiotics have done the trick and much better now. Deb and myself have agreed a truce so the jury is still out as to which spread is the best. Tom

What the heck are marmite and vegemite? One sounds like a rodent and the other a blending machine. lol I saw there's even been a war over them. I need to get up to speed. Good job, Tom!

Lol, they're both derived from brewers yeast and both dark in colour, usually spread on toasted bread at breakfast. We have a truce on at the moment for how long I don't know. Tom

I looked up Marmite and I don't think it would be to my liking. I do not like the scent of beer or any alcoholic drink. Since this is made from leftover yeast from brewing beer, I don't think I could even taste it. To each his own. We never know what our tastebuds will like. Thanks for your visit to my page. Sara
