-If Only

I Wish~
I wish you had known l wrote poetry
Before you passed away
I wish you had read my poems
Before my saddest earth day

I Know~
I know you would have read each one of them
We would then discuss, laugh and analyse
I know you would have been proud
With a smile on your face or tears in your eyes

If Only~
If only my self belief had been stronger
It would not have taken me so long
If only is just“ if only”
Now you are gone

I Hope~
I hope you are able to read my poems from heaven
See my heart and soul written in black and white
I hope you know how much writing poetry means to me
As you look over me from heavens light

I am so sorry for your loss Deb. I have found that this community here in the soup is wonderful at supporting, coaching, and encouraging. All you have to do is stir the soup a little. All my best!

So true are your statements. A poet unread is a voice unheard.

It’s my mum l write about ….she died many years ago but she never even knew , let alone read any of my poetry! I am sorry your son never read the book you wrote and dedicated to him. Cuddles….Debx

Pangie nobody would cheer or throw a party if you died….no way. You maybe unafraid to speak your mind and some don’t like that but you are a passionate, caring, cheeky, funny and loving lady and that shines through! Stay you….Debx

Yeah. Procrastination, the thief of time, is responsible for so many missed opportunities. ~ gw

I understand this feeling and could relate. Thankyou for sharing such personal wishes. I think we need poetry to release some of the feeling we hold too tightly.
