-Poetry Soup Connections

THREE: Emotions in a cyber world are just as new to us as AI in the sense we must figure out how to proceed. The contact list is all I've got. First and foremost, I pray, friendships are sincere on both sides which is an issue in real life, now that I think about it -- insincerity has hurt many a heart! I know I went long but this bears discussion, it's an upbeat discussion about GOOD emotions and GOOD sharing is much needed around these parts as if late. We grow what we feed. CayCay

TWO: I was clueless myself at the time, in that condition, so I couldn't make my poem peps aware, but I could have long ago given a list to my husband of people to contact should/when something happens to me. I learned Connie Marcum Wong had died in my absence. We often talked on the phone for hours. Held my own funeral for her and spent time w/ her by reading all she'd posted in my absence. From now on, when I bond, I want someone in their family to put me on a contact list for when they die.

Please read, "I love Small Boxed Faces." I felt & echo your poem. We are becoming close to others in a new, unique environment that lacks face time and other traditional interactions between friends. Loving people who may disappear w/o warning is disconcerting. I vanished in '22 due to traumatic brain disorder, left dear poet friends in a state of worry and cluelessness.

I am like you and have a soft heart and would feel sad if our connection was unreal. I thank God for all who are real and honest in my life and who have best intentions at heart. Nothing is gained by being false. Thankful for your friendship. love phyl

Hi Deb you are a good soul and as I feel I'm not too bad either you are a true friend for me. What do people gain from falseness or being unkind or cold or being awkward or arrogant in their remarks . So sad so very sad. I think the vast bulk of us here are genuine, Deb, at least I like to think so. Alas, with the advent of AI, I find myself looking for signs of ‘computer brain’. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to distinguish between that and plain simple ‘numpty’. Yours, honestly and truly and ever so real, Terry. Hmmm… could you transfer 900 Austrailian Dollars, by Western Union, for my great grandmothers operation. I would be ever so greatful ;-)

I so agree with you Deb! I do find it amazing that the sense of friendship grew on line like this. Really though, it seems a great way to know someone as though fiction is often written, often, true deep feelings are expressed and perhaps more easily than on person! Dear debx, i am the same as you and i trust easily and i can be quite gullible but having people like silent one in my life that constantly remind me of how the virtual world can be like, is helpful. Hah! I also have been through few betrayals and people turn against so easily but i think on soup people are very straightforward with what they think and feel and i surely hope also are more mature than other platform crowds. So I expect better: i made only one friend from soup. And she is sweet, i have a lot to learn from soupers and im grateful for all soupers: without soup i would have been really in a bad place last year. And you are a beautiful soul! I've been blessed to meet 4 soupers on my travels - we would never have met except for connecting on Poetry Soup! there are many i would love to meet and some I'd avoid like the plague but that's life! hugs janx x

you've described this very well, deb! i have also made some very cool poetic connections on the soup, some with people i'd have little in common with in any other part of my life. still, it's a lovely feeling to get and give comments to these online buddies...

Are you a Pisces, Deb? If not what sign are you? I was much like you when I came here. I still likeconnections. But I did learn that some people are not what they present themselves to be. The majority are.Like the real world, the online world has some destructive people! It is a reality, The only perfect world I see is after death. Yup, I feel the same! Connections made. We learn a little bit about one another but unless our souls spend time together we can never know each other well. Still this is a fantastic community I have loved for many years. As I ruminate on past contests and comments with some that have gone on, by death or choice, I am touched. Hugs, Deb!
