Bus 268

Everyday for the last five years

His dedicated routine was the same

Catching Bus 268 at 9.30am to be with her

On Bus 268 at 5pm to return home again

Tuesday was like any other

Though the bus trip home was not the same

Tears fell as he stared vacantly out the window

Never to catch Bus 268 again

Sad poem, Kim. I remember when my grandfather was living in the retirement community I'm now living in, and he would drive every day to the care facility to visit my grandmother - for about 5 years, after she had a stroke. It was something to live for. They were married for 76 years.

Deb, I apologize for that. I thought time ago, I got your name and Kim's name mixed in my head. I don't know why. There's a kid I tutor named Sophie and I always want to call Zoey. It's like I have some weird dementia that way. So, anyway, I'm sorry I keep doing that. I always call my son by my little brother's name and vice-versa, too. It's weird - can't explain it.

A sad but true write, leaving us all wondering if we will one day meet our loved ones. We retired into a retirement village a little early but knowing this separation tug does one day happen. I bring it up with hubby sometimes saying I don't want to live if he leaves me first. I just can't seem to accept it. Lots of love Jen
