Alone And Unseen

He watched them walk by Many scurried People from all walks of life He looked at them and he saw them Yet no-one looked at him and no-one saw him Sitting on a bench His whole life and home beside him in plastic bags Alone and unseen

Okay, I had to skip your 2nd poem because I knew I'd cry and now you've got me tearing up anyway because I read this. Having a brother who lived a lot of his adult life homeless, due to mental illness, (not the case in your poem, I think, because your character looked and saw, my bro did not look, see or care), I felt the hard hit of this poem. I'm going to see if you have any happy sounding titles - just for today. CayCay

Unfortunately, homeless people are often looked upon as if they did not exist, or they are misjudged. Many of them are victims of circumstances and are in need of human kindness and love. ~ Regards // paul

Homelessness is very sad. Some very bright people are out there, but they can't function because of mental illness. Thank you for bringing their plight to attention.

No-one saw him. So he was seen by 'No-one.' As in 'I'm nobody// Are you nobody too?" by Emily Dickinson. ~ gw

A very moving portrait...so fortunate that in this case someone saw him and felt compassion and managed to write a poem about him. You have caused all of us readers to "look" at him and take note....thankyou my dear friend.

they are not "invisible" as most clutch their pocketbooks and purses a bit tighter as they pass.
