--affordable housing - was a place you could afford
--rent control - was keeping enough money in a bureau drawer to pay it
--work – was considered an ethic
--change - was what you told kids to keep
--teachers – taught
--thinking – wasn’t critical
--geometry students – still had to prove the Pythagorean theorem
--an apple a day kept the doctor away – without a mandate
--questioning authority – was a good thing
--“that is a very good question” – meant you didn’t know the answer
--liar’s poker – was a kid’s game – not a political party plank
--pronouns – were parts of speech
--flatulence – referred to the expulsion of noxious gases from either end
--dogs – were pets – not furry babies
--cats – were….well they’ve always been cats and anyone who thinks differently
has never (thought they) owned one
