Andrea Dietrich grew up in Iowa and now resides in Utah with a spouse and two cats. She has two grown children and six grandchildren. Having graduated BYU with a Spanish major/ESL minor, she has spent most of her adult life teaching. It wasn't until 2000 that she began writing in earnest and discovering her "niche" as a writer of lyrical poetry. The internet opened up a new world for her, and she has spent two decades now participating in poetry clubs, acting as a judge of poetry contests for various magazines, for the website Shadow Poetry, and for Poetry Soup.

Ms. Dietrich has won numerous awards, as well as the title Poet of the Year 2008, from the Yahoo group, Poetry For Thought. In addition, she has won prizes from the magazines Lucidity, Bell's Letters, Art with Words, Poets at Work and SP Quill, the magazine for which she wrote grammar and poetry articles as well as movie reviews and for which she acted as poetry editor for the head editor Marie Summers for six years. Many of her poems appeared in Shadows Ink, a yearly published series of chapbooks of award winning poetry as well as in numerous other anthologies. Her short stories appeared in many issues of SP Quill and much of her poetry was published in eight chapbooks (no longer sold online).

Since coming to Poetry Soup, Ms. Dietrich has been both contest sponsor and winner of numerous contests. In 2010, her poem "Cinder Girl" was first place winner of Soup's International contest (these contests are no longer held). Z-Film Fest Project, 2014) and the full length movie "Six Days of Sistine" in which 20 poems of Ms. Dietrichs serve as the thoughts of two characters played by Jamie Campbell Bower and Elarica Johnson (directed by Richard J. You guys. I am SO excited. Recently another teacher and I put together lyrics to promote our ESL school, Nomen Global. We did a spoof of Gangnam Style, a very popular Korean rap song, and put it to English using our students' voices and dance moves. I even got to be in it. I am the idiot teacher that dances all the time! It's a little over three minutes. I hope you will takhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RpdYsQS5wQ&feature=youtu.bee a look. I am really proud of it even though Varia, my peer teacher, had to use a mere cell phone to get it all recorded.She edited it and did a super job!! I truly enjoyed watching this video of yours, Andrea! You are so cool to do this and I think it would be so great to be in your class...thanks for sharing-- golly now I got that song in my head-- but in fairness I think you did a great job with the lyrics! I bet you all had so much fun in shooting this! Kudos to Varia for doing the editing!

Andrea, per your question: I taught Radiologic Technology at a community college for 11 years. Specifically - Radiation Biology and Protection, Radiologic Physics, and Radiologic Pathology. I also evaluated clinical practice.

yes, I have seen one of Becca's poem read by her at Youtube and it was beautifully done. My problem is that I cannot even post cool stuff at this blog, so how can I fugure out how to put things at youtube. If not for my peer teacher filming this rap video, I would never have been able to get such a thing done all by myself. She put it on youtube and did everything technical!

Oh, Eileen do you belly dance?? I took a class for six months and got to dance in a restaurant with my teacher!! That was over ten years ago, but it was a highlight of my life! Would love to see you belly dance. I just love that dancing

David, they have a variety of things over there at Youtube. My two other favorites are Nomen global Level 5 Final Poject-Les Miserables (they dress up some like women) and "Come to Utah with Yousif" These are all next to this video I showed today.
