Below is the poem of the day entitled In Bed, Side by Side which was written by poet Ruben O..

In Bed, Side by Side

... through nights of ether.
Liquid paraffin drowns shadows
of potpourri

and anniversaries
that measure the distance of sight and sound
tiptoeing down thousand-threads

sheets in ascetic reds
or tense blue -- deja vu of absent drive
As if our apathy could long survive

its own silence.
I wonder if there will be time
to pull up anchor and sun

or if we'll just float adrift
until sinking sacredly --
ever after.

I know from past experience what it is to feel alone when you are with the one you so desperately want intimacy from. This strikes a chord. I see it is POTD based on comments, what an excellent selection they have made.

The title grabbed me Ruben. Side by side but alone. I like the sheet reference. Lived this. A question many ask.

I love to read poems like this Ruben. They excite and inspire me though they journey into the deep. 7

To pull up anchor and sun from apathy's silence.. To see the shadows and smell the scent of potpourri once again,to float adrift or to sink..Little by little who knows..what life brings. A poem which demands answers, answers still yet unknown.Hope or despair ? To sink,to drift away or to sun to sail again...A beautiful sad poem Ru..Adding it to my favs.

You favour three-line stanzas... I do too, so touché, my friend... Nice poem.

Wow.....there is such a sense of 'giving up' and intense despair, that I'm sure many people have experienced, and will relate to upon reading this poem. Such depth, Ruben... You have mastered the feeling of apathy

So weird how the soup is so messed up:( Sometimes I can't edit my own poems, some I can, but then some of them will bring up an error page , so that I can't even correct an misspelled word, or add a line, nothing .. But thanks for trying to comment, it means a lot to just hear from you !! :
