"One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life. The word is love. Sophocles, Greek Poet Some suffering in life we can’t avoid. However, no excuses should there be for pain that leaves inside our hearts a void. It’s love we need. I think most would agree! If love could rule, at last we would have peace, and that would mean an end to every war. Just think of it - all brutishness would cease. Whatever on earth are we living for? We live to love and be loved in return. God’s children that we are, how can we hate? Our neighbors’ welfare should be our concern and having charity our greatest trait. Since ancient times, the answer has been clear, yet still away from love we seem to veer.

Congratulations, Andrea, on your top win with this perfect sonnet. The universe would be a better place, if we did understand how hate affects us all! Best wishes ~

I have read a series of stunning sonnets on Love here. Sure this is one of them. Even though love has so many attributes and love remains as the focal point around which the world rotates, we seem to veer away from its magnetism. All the Best Andrea...

Good one for the contest. It reads like a good contender to me for the contest. Way to go. So many times, when we should love we turn to other emotions instead. Thanks for sharing this one with us and for dropping by my page. Sara K

We are all God's children but since the beginning of time, man's object in life was always violence and lust. We pray for unity. Jesus did not die in vain. Maybe one day.... Great poem, best for a win. Hugs xx

outstanding Sonnet, masterfully created for the Untraditional Poetry Contest. Glad to see someone spoke of God's love in their entry. Yours is the only one I've seen. I especially liked the last two summation lines. Best wishes with the contest, hugs Sara

Dear Andrea, your sonnet echoes the timeless wisdom of the ages. Love indeed holds the power to alleviate the burdens of life and bring peace to our troubled world. I loved how your verses evoke a sense of urgency, urging me to embrace love as the guiding force in our lives. As fellow travelers on this journey, let us strive to embody the essence of love and spread its transformative power far and wide. With many blessings, Daniel.

If only we all think the same way sweet andrea, love is what we come from and should share, as we are all “ We live to love and be loved in return. God’s children that we are, how can we hate?” Couldnt have said it any better. I couldnt even tell its a sonnet because of the seamless flow of your lines! Truly! You are an inspiration. I hope i find my muse to rhyme, to do this contest! Sending you light always! Best wishes
