He simply looked at me. When I looked back, he held that gaze. It nearly made me blush. For building tension he sure had the knack, for by the time he left, I had a crush. He’d smiled with his mouth, but also with his eyes. I had to know him more. That week I thought about him all the time. He was a prize that if I won meant I would have his heart. He came back twice to where I worked at night. We talked and flirted; then he asked me out! The tension building in me I could not fight. I knew his kiss I could not do without. We took it slow. When our lips met at last, it was a kiss that could not be surpassed.

I really enjoyed the structure of your lines, with endings where they fit best. And the flow is so natural, like their getting together, perhaps.

Andrea, this poem is quite remarkable indeed. The depiction of attraction is enthralling and unique, exploring the slow and intricate growth of feelings. Love is often seen as a precious treasure, adding a delightful flair that captures its core of obsession. Something is captivating about how people can feel such intense attraction in their youth and also as they grow older. Yet, caution must be taken when assessing these opinions.

I love the description of attraction and how it builds in a way that's not instantaneous. It's also cute that the character thinks of this love as a prize. Really characteristic of infatuation. It's funny how some of us can feel such attraction when young and also when older. We just have to be very careful about acting on it if we're under contract. lol.
