Footsteps

I followed in your footsteps as you walked. My small feet fit inside them. You were big and strong like superman, But you didn't scare away the monsters That kept me awake at night. Your voice, Never the one to lull me to sleep with stories of princesses and happy endings. Emotions were hidden, Forbidden to surface. I used to sit and wonder, What I had done for you to shut me out. A little girl, Trying to fit into a mans' world. But my feet were too small, And I was not a boy

This is such a sad write, as a father I feel even closer to my daughters sometimes more than my boys. Some men just don't get it, but yet they do what they can. Very well written. Michael
