Salvador Dalí. The Persistence of Memory. 1931

The Persistence of Memory, 1931 - Salvador Dali

___________________________________________________________________________

“Don’t watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going.” – Sam Levenson I am the one that accompanies all. I’ve always existed, and when you die, I’ll carry on and see all mankind fall. Indifferent and unwavering am I. It matters not the season you are in, nor the places where you might reside. I care not if you’re good or if you sin. Some try to elude me, but they can’t hide. The longer you live and more you have to bear, you’ll find the greatest proof of me is shown - I manifest as wrinkles you’ll soon wear. Grim Reaper comes, and he I’ve always known. But once you pass, I will not leave you, for my name is Time, and I live evermore.

Oh sweet andrea, I absolutely love that artwork uv used here, thats one of my fave artwork by salvador dali, and have used it in the past as a picture prompt, and as for your poem, I absolutely love the way this flows, the depth of what youv conveyed here, personifying time, in the form of sonnet, truly is powerful especially the ending two lines as well as “ I manifest as wrinkles you’ll soon wear.“ stood out the most for me. Congratulations on your well deserved win. I appreciate this poem

I like how haunting you make the indifference of time. Being conscious of its indifference, and caring not, adds a layer of cruelty. It's a powerful poem Andrea. "I manifest as wrinkles you’ll soon wear."

Yeah Dali! I like this point of view and how time gets right to the point. I guess time can't waste itself.

Hard for us to imagine a world without us, before and ahead of us. Time has marched through!

Very clever Andrea, like a riddle in a sonnet, which has perfect iambic pentameter... your use of analogy is brilliant here.. Best of luck in the contest..

Dear Andrea, This is a profound reflection on the omnipresence and inevitability of time. Your eloquent words encapsulate the essence of time as an impartial observer, accompanying every soul from birth to the end of days. Your portrayal of time as indifferent to human distinctions and actions is thought-provoking and humbling. Andrea, this is such a poignant piece that invites deep contemplation on the nature of existence and the passage of time. - Blessings, Daniel
