In the Beginning

"In the beginning" So many people discredit or discount God as being a Creator. Why? Because of their understanding (actually misunderstanding) the Bible account of creation as explained by Creationists. The imposition of 6 days of creation being literal 24 hours, truly misrepresents the truth of the Genesis account. Scientists now believe the universe had a beginning about 14,000,000 years ago. They claim that the Bible does not recognize this fact and so is incompatible with scientific discovery of truth. However, the very first expression of the creation account is found at Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth". So this acknowledges there was a beginning! Nowhere does the Bible state 6,000 years ago the earth was created. It could very well be billions of years! I urge all truth seekers to do a thorough study of the scriptures, thereby coming to understand there is a loving Creator who cares about us. Nicely written. This is a topic I've dealt with most of my life. I have advanced biology training and much exposure to evolutionary theory. I have spent nearly 50 years saying exactly what you expressed here. Your writing, "They claim that the Bible does not recognize this fact and so is incompatible with scientific discovery of truth." is spot on. Thanks for expressing so eloquently this concept. Hi John, Folk have their opinions and beliefs. But you have started a conversation about the matter. Some will search the scriptures others will not . One thing for sure is, we all question our existence and where did we come from. I for one believe those answer are found in the scriptures. Thanks for sharing such a write . Depends on the day John... Always try to read my friends poems... Working from home means I have a lot more time on my hands at the moment, so writing and reading more

Thanks SO I anticipate some debate on this one but as you state some will agree others, disagree, my point is to put out the information, people choose what they want to believe, I just don't want them to make choices without being informed. Thanks again I wonder how many poems you read per day?
